Shoot for Literacy 2018 Hits its Mark
January 12, 2019
Last September, Van Winkle Construction sponsored the Matthew E. Russell Foundation’s third annual Shoot for Literacy at the Garland Mountain Sporting Clays facility in scenic Waleska, Georgia.

Thanks to Van Winkle’s sharpshooting Subcontractors, the event raised $70,000. This tops last year’s total by $10,000! The event’s sharpest shooters received their awards over a barbecue lunch, and our gracious raffle winners returned home with either a 36″ Blackstone Griddle, a Nikon Coolpix B500 camera and 32GB kit bundle, four Atlanta Hawks tickets, a Trophy Hunter’s gift basket, or a Dewalt DXAEPS2 power station. Our silent auction winner received over $480 in shooting lessons, clays, and gun and cart rentals.

The Matthew E. Russell Foundation, which is dedicated to enriching the futures of children in Africa by providing the resources to inspire learning and literacy, builds new libraries in South Africa and equips them with computers and other modern media resources. All funds raised go toward arming the children of South Africa with access to educational resources. You can learn more about the organization here.
