DESCRIPTION
Van Winkle’s renovation and new construction for the Decatur City Hall improved the facility while maintaining its historic façade.
This project increased the overall size of the building and upgraded the existing structure’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
FEATURES
Capacity Expansions
Van Winkle’s expansion to Decatur City Hall affected every internal feature of the building. The new space tripled the City Council Chamber’s seating capacity from 30 to 100, added four new banks of restrooms, and provided new office centers for the building, accounting, and administrative departments. The addition also included the installation of a new elevator and shaft.
Historic Restoration
Project scope included restoration of Decatur City Hall’s original conference rooms, hallways, and entry spaces. Van Winkle matched the addition exterior as closely as possible to the existing building’s appearance.
