ChristChurch
Presbyterian
Addition and Renovation
PROJECT SCOPE
PROJECT SCOPE
DESCRIPTION
Van Winkle’s work for ChristChurch Presbyterian on Atlanta’s Peachtree Road included the renovation of the original 1960s administrative building and the addition of a fresh, contemporary space for worship, education, and fellowship. The project’s functional and aesthetic urban character suits the church’s diverse Atlanta community.
FEATURES
Renovation
Renovations to the existing ChristChurch Presbyterian building included the campus’ existing administration and classroom spaces.
Addition
The church’s new addition enclosed the renovated building to form one vibrant, self-contained campus featuring a new entryway displaying an art gallery and cafe to passing pedestrians and commuters.
The two-story addition includes a 1,000 seat sanctuary, 25 classrooms, offices, commercial kitchen, and fellowship spaces.
CHALLENGES
This tight urban site required careful coordination with the City of Atlanta and Department of Transportation to ensure not only the public’s safety, but the expedient storage and security of onsite equipment.
