DESCRIPTION
Van Winkle Construction’s renovation and restoration of Clark Atlanta University’s Thayer Hall improved it inside and out. This historic three-story building houses classrooms, laboratories, administrative offices, and a community outreach area for the college’s School of Social Work.
FEATURES
Improved Mechanical and Electrical
Van Winkle stripped the entire building’s interiors to install new mechanical and electrical systems.
Restoration and Preservation
In an effort to preserve the budget as well as the building’s historic character, Van Winkle refurbished and re-used much of Thayer Hall’s original wood beams and wainscoting. Van Winkle took special care in preservation of the top floor’s original features, including 15 foot ceilings, interior glass walls, and clerestory windows.
