Shane Hornbuckle
Shane Hornbuckle grew up on the job sites of his father’s construction company, so the rhythm of a build — the early mornings, the mud, the moment a structure finally reads as a building — was familiar long before it was a career. He joined Van Winkle Construction in 1992 and has spent the three decades since walking pastors, Architects, and developers through what it actually takes to build well.
As Principal, Shane oversees the company’s sales, marketing, and promotional initiatives. In practice, that makes him the keeper of the Van Winkle story — and most of what you’ll read from the field here carries his byline. His personable demeanor and adaptable skills prove him a valued member of any project team.
What he writes about
- Milestones from the field — groundbreakings, toppings out, and ribbon-cuttings across the Southeast.
- Building with stewardship — what churches and building committees should know before the first drawing.
- The people behind the work — crews, trade partners, and the clients who trust the same name for decades.
“We don’t say much about our work. Our clients do. My job is just to make sure their stories get told.” — Shane Hornbuckle
Beyond the job site
Shane is a proud alumnus of Oglethorpe University and deeply involved in his local community, acting as a liaison for his church and charity organizations. When he isn’t doing that, he enjoys hunting, golf, and playing with his dog Rosco.
