A Family-Led Commercial Contractor Serving the Southeast Since 1931

Commercial Construction, Done Right

A Contractor Built to Last

Why Owners Choose Van Winkle

Nine Decades of Trust

Van Winkle Construction has worked as commercial general Contractors in Georgia since 1931, with the fourth generation still in leadership today. That kind of tenure changes how a commercial construction company operates. Decisions get made for the relationship that comes after this project, not just the one in front of us. Most of the team has been here for decades, not years, our repeat clients are not just asking for Van Winkle to come back but for specific employees/teams.

Getting It Right the First Time

Being a commercial construction company that's still standing after nine decades means something was learned along the way. We deliver most projects as a commercial general Contractor at risk, with a Guaranteed Maximum Price locked in before the client goes to their board, congregation, or investors. The rest run traditional design-bid-build. Not every one of the commercial building construction companies you'll talk to during preconstruction will hold that number once the job starts. We do. Owners who've been burned by change orders elsewhere tend to notice that first.

Design Partners From the Start

We're not a commercial design-build Contractor in the sense of running design in-house, but we act as commercial design-build Contractors do, brought to the table alongside the Architect while the design is still taking shape. Early pricing on concept drawings, honest value engineering, and a preconstruction team that flags problems before they cost anyone money. Architects tell us that it keeps them looking good in front of their own clients.

Building and Renovating Across the Southeast

Whether the project is new construction or falls to commercial renovation Contractors working around an occupied building, the approach is the same: plan around the client's operations, not the other way around. From our Atlanta headquarters and Greenville, South Carolina office, we're licensed to build across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Florida.

Church Construction and Every Market Beyond It

Church construction and church remodeling projects have shaped much of our history, and we've built relationships with churches like 12Stone across six campuses over more than a decade. That same discipline carries into multifamily construction company work, apartment construction, student housing construction, senior living builders' projects, assisted living facility construction, hospitality renovation Contractors' scopes, and industrial and specialty builds. We approach each market with the same commitment: a realistic budget, an honest schedule, and a team that stays through closeout.

What Our Partners Say

Mike Linch, Senior Pastor at Northstar Church
“There were a lot of great companies bidding on this project. We felt like Van Winkle got the vision. They didn’t build a building and leave. They built something they were proud of because they knew it made us proud.”
Mike Linch
Senior Pastor · NorthStar Church
Sean Chalmers, Developer at Dominion Group
“Van Winkle has been very good at being proactive and even seeing potential issues and bringing those to our attention.
