This is our second major project with Northside United Methodist Church. The latest multi-phase addition and renovation began with site work on approximately four (4) acres of land. The first phase included a two and a half level, 258-space, 90,000 sf underground parking deck. A new prayer chapel was added and interior renovation of the music suite. The scout hut was also relocated, brought up to code and expanded to 1,800 sf, approximately double the size. The active congregation and pre-school remained fully operational throughout the entire project.
Of special interest is the Prayer Chapel. The stone work consisted of limestone on the exterior and Jerusalem Stone with custom engraving in the interior. All of the millwork is quarter-sawn red oak with custom cast bronze light fixtures, unique “crown of thorns” prayer railing and an inlaid river of small stones in the flooring. The main prayer altar is a cube of Jerusalem stone with custom engraving and is highlighted by a skylight/glass steeple.
The second phase of the latest project included a new fellowship building with a three story open floor plan. The meeting space is flexible with seating for 850 during contemporary services converting to a banquet area seating for over 460. The commercial kitchen has separate rooms for dry storage, laundry, office, walk-in freezer, cooler, equipment storage and service elevator. The area has an extensive audio/visual package with a fully functional stage for theatrical productions.
Ten classrooms, seven youth/children and three large high school rooms, and a connecting walkway to the parking deck were also included in this second phase.
