Entrance of Congregation Etz Chaim

Congregation Etz Chaim of Marietta, Georgia has selected Van Winkle Construction to renovate their Synagogue. The work involves interior renovations to the Lobby, Pre-function, Restrooms, Hallways, Gift Shop, Storage areas and entrances to Administrative Offices. New flooring and millwork will highlight the work.

The project will begin May of 2012 and be complete by August. The firm of Collins Cooper Carusi Architects Inc. of Atlanta, Georgia is the project architect.

Ed Van Winkle, III Presents Check to No Longer Bound Representative Edward Bailey

Van Winkle Construction raised nearly $15,000 for No Longer Bound through a Sporting Clays Shooting Tournament at Big Red Oak Plantation in Gay, Georgia.

Shooters braved rainy and cold conditions to put their marksmanship skills to the test. Individual tournament winners included: Kenny Cole, First Place; Edward Van Winkle, IV, Second Place; and Brad Mann, Third Place. Karen Chin won the Women’s Competition. The winner of the Team Competition was the team of: Kenny Cole of Inglett and Stubbs; Slayden Johnson of Van Winkle Construction; Brad Mann of Rutherfoord; and Gary Cowart of Macuch Steel Products.

All competitors were treated to a Bar-B-Q dinner following the competition where they had an opportunity to meet some of the people who are enrolled in the No Longer Bound program. Van Winkle Construction Vice President Shane Hornbuckle said, “Despite the weather, this event was a lot of fun. The best part was talking with people whose lives are being impacted in a huge way by No Longer Bound. The money we raised here will go directly to support the program. I was glad to see so many of our subcontractor partners get behind us in this effort.”

Topping Out Celebration Lunch Inside the New Upper School

Van Winkle Construction held a Topping Out Ceremony for the Whitefield Academy Upper School project January 12 to commemorate the installation of the final piece of structural steel framing in the building. Representatives from Van Winkle, subcontracting firms, the project design team and Whitefield Academy marked the occasion with a catered Bar-B-Que lunch.

Greg Kerr, Van Winkle Senior Project Manager, said, “This party is a quick ‘time-out’ in the process to recognize the hard work of all our subcontractors and thank them for their efforts. I’m very pleased the job is on schedule and within budget.”

Work on the new 50,000 sf. Upper School facility began in June of 2011. When finished, the building will house classrooms, science labs, offices and a 443-seat black box theater.

Perkins + Will of Atlanta, Georgia is the project architect and Richmond Sterling of Atlanta, Georgia is the owner’s representative.

St. James United Methodist Church

St. James UMC Chooses Van Winkle – Alpharetta, GA

May 19, 2011

St. James United Methodist Church has picked Van Winkle Construction to perform $1.4 million in additions and renovations to their facilities in Alpharetta, Georgia. The addition will encompass 11,400 sf. and provide a Fellowship Hall, Classrooms, and a Kitchen. Renovations will update Conference spaces.

The project architect is Matrix -3D of Atlanta, Georgia and Collins Project Management of Norcross, Georgia is the program manager.

Van Winkle Construction Awarded Whitefield Academy Project – Mableton, GA

Whitefield Academy of Mableton, Georgia has negotiated with Van Winkle Construction to build their new $7 million Upper School.  The 50,000 sf., three-story facility will include Classrooms; Science Labs; Offices; and a 443-seat Black Box Theater. 

The Upper School will be constructed of structural steel frame, stone exterior with plank siding and a standing seam metal roof.  Work is schedule to commence in June of 2011.

The architect of record for the project is Perkins + Will of Atlanta, Georgia.  The program manager group of Richmond Sterling of Atlanta, Georgia will act as the owner’s representative for Whitefield Academy.

Lockheed Martin Corporation has chosen Van Winkle Construction to renovate three hangar buildings on their Marietta, Georgia campus.  The multi-million dollar project involves Hangars B-82, B-83 and B-84 for maintenance of C-130 aircraft.

The project scope includes roof replacement; three new 160 foot wide fabric Hangar Doors; HVAC; Electrical; Painting; new Fall Protection systems; and a new, High Expansion Foam Fire Suppression systems in each of the 18,304 square foot Hangar buildings.

Van Winkle Construction has completed multiple construction projects for Lockheed Martin Corporation since the mid 1960s.
